The Royal Princess was the first ship in the Royal Class Line and the largest ship in the Princess fleet when it was delivered in 2013. The Royal Class now consists of 6 sister ships, one of which (the Regal) regularly sails out of our home port of Galveston. This is the third ship for Princess to carry the name “Royal Princess”. The ship was built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy.
Perhaps most interestingly, the ship was christened by The Duchess of Cambridge, or better known as Prince William’s wife Catherine, the heir to the British Throne.
Princess is known for being the "Love Boat" which is a popular television show that aired in the 1970s and 1980s, featuring a Princess cruise ship. They maintain this tradition by playing the theme song from the show using the ships horn during sailaways. Here's a link to the theme song.
In 2019, the Royal Princess became the first Royal Class ship to port in the Western United States when it arrived in Los Angeles. That year was also it's first sailings to Alaska and it has been there every summer since.
